Marilyn Montgomery is a British Nurse Midwife with over 50 years of experience working and supporting people through the major life transitions of birth and death. In the 1970s, while working at San Francisco General Hospital, she encountered the practices of meditation, mindfulness, and compassion, and has always integrated these into her daily life.

In 1982, while living near the River Ganges in India, she became aware of the increasing pollution of this sacred river, which was deeply impacting millions of people who depended on the river for their livelihood. This work was a potent doorway into the mystery of water and the fluid body which became the foundation of her love of Continuum.  Living and working in India and Nepal for the next 8 years, she had the good fortune to meet some of the great Tibetan meditation masters, and started to deepen her study of meditation after the heartbreak of her mother’s sudden death in 1985.

Returning to northern California in 1990, she served in developing a Buddhist retreat center in the mountains, raising a family and working part time as a nurse midwife, as well as becoming a Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner and self-help teacher in 2001.

Meeting Emilie Conrad by chance, she discovered a missing piece in her journey and spent a number of years immersed in Emilie’s workshops and retreats. She was certified by Emilie as Continuum teacher in 2011.
